Great Value Added Communications for Prisoners

By Elmer Richardson

The latest technology is incorporated for offering phone services to inmates of jails by VAC or Value Added Communications. This helps the inmates to keep in touch with family and friends, through a very superior quality networking and communication system to make inmate calls.

VAC brings the Focus 100 program which is fully automatic and the inmate calls solutions are ideally suited for large facilities. This service features a voice prompt aiding both the called party and the inmate, without any risky intervention by a live operator. Both English and Spanish prompts are offered for easy understanding of all inmates. The PIN records the inmate's name and this recorded information is played for all calls. This will eliminate the possibility of passing messages at the time of name recording window.

The details of the inmate's name, the call type, charges, the name of the institution is provided to the called party by the system. The called party is also offered the option of denying present or all future calls from the institution and also call monitoring or recording notification is also sent to the called party.

No security concerns of the jail are compromised, as the VAC inmate calls have all safety features like search capabilities, special reporting and also recording of calls. They also provide ID controls wherein it is possible to give some incentive for the good behavior of the inmate and conversely to give penalty for bad behavior. The jail can have greater revenue, as these calls can be made where previously they were barred from being billed.

Other special features provided by VAC Inmate calls are a password protected access. The authorities can search or locate any recorded calls and the details of the called numbers. There is also a playback section in VAC Inmate calls, whereby relevant sections of the conversation can be marked. The notes function allows the user to make any addition to the recording file. In case of protected calls, there is even an attorney privilege feature which prevents the recording of such inmate calls.
