My only drawback has nothing to do with the mount, but I wear gloves when I ride and my touch screen can't be changed with the gloves on. I originally was going to purchase this from another seller off of Amazon until I came across it on here. I would not recommend this product. I have had this mount for about a year and it works great.
The holder itself is a great solution for those of us with odd sized devices or devices with a protective case installed. I use my iPhone for XM radio and Navagon GPS navigation in my car. I wanted to get a car dock for my smartphone without having to take the case off. This car dock is well made, and comes with a car vent attachment as well. I've had it stuck there ever since I bought it and it hasn't fallen once. It's been through cold weather, hot weather up to 100 degrees and it is still there. I didn't use the vent clip, as I live in Arizona and we need all the ventilation we can get so I can't speak to that, but it looks pretty straight forward. The adjustability of the arm has met every demand I've had, and the dash mount plate stays put even in this terrible desert heat! My phone stays in well (Samsung mesmerize) and has never fallen out. Excellent product, highly recommend.
Even though it's made of plastic, it is nice and rugged and doesn't give you the feeling of being 'cheap'. A great buy that I highly recommend! Sturdy build, nice grip on the phone, dashboard disc mount, windshield mount, AND air vent mount all for a low price, that kind of thing. When I installed it in the car, I was even more pleased, as it rotated 90 degrees while still staying put during driving and going over bumps and stuff.
I have not had it fall off like some other mounts. I drive a F150 truck so the ride is a bit bumpy but this mount has not failed. I remedied this by adjusting the joint so that the phone is already as far down as it can go and aimed at me. Doing that limits the places I can aim the phone, but I don't typically adjust it while driving so it's not that big of a deal.
A quick and easy solution was to add a small piece of rubber tubing to each plastic clip. The vent mount is now rock solid, like the windshield mount. The vent clips were a little stiff, but I'd rather have that than it be too loose. I'm sure it will loosen with age.
The bottom two prongs adjust, so if you have different phones, you don't need to keep them so far apart. Putting everything together was pretty easy. I was looking forward to the Vent Mount, hooked onto the vent no problem. Two weeks later one of the clips where you insert it into the vent broke off.
