I have heard others complaining about the price but I would have to say that you really get what you pay for and Norton includes free support with your subscription so if you do have any problems you can get an answer. I had problems with Norton 360 didn't want to stay in my computer tried deleting and re-installing. Norton seems to have turned a corner with their antivirus as I am pleased with NIS 2010 and the upgraded version. The footprint is smaller and does not bog down your PC as with Norton products of old. I recently purchased Norton Internet Security. I purchased it at a great price.
You can avoid this by buying the product on amazon. It is easy to load, and you do not have to deal with the nitwits at Norton directly, clearly a win-win situation. NIS took me less than 60 seconds to install on my dual core laptop, setup was a breeze. The UI is one of the best I've seen in a security suite. After installation, Norton Internet Security even found a suspicious file that Avira had missed (and yes, this was most likely a true security threat based on where I got the file-if you know what I mean). The interface is very intuitive, but you're likely to not have to go into it very deeply.
Received it ASAP from Amazon and had a clean install. It works pretty quickly in comparison to previous versions of Norton and certainly more effective than my most recent package, ZoneAlarm.
However it is worth having when you need it to remove a virus, but that is it. It takes up too much resources and it slows the computer down too much to use and have running in the background on a regular basis. Most times, issues have been due to non-removal of other/earlier versions of Norton software. The recent improvements in installation are continuing to be great. Been running it for a couple months and wouldn't even know it was there except for two or three times that it notified me of an unsafe website or potential hack. Also very easy to select e-mail addresses as 'spam' which it sends to the 'junk' e-mail folder for deletion.
I bought Norton Internet Security and have had no problem since. Norton caught them all and killed them all! However, my experience on my Win XP desktop has been like a trip to hell. The product installed fine and then prompted me to click the "restart" button. I have been using Norton Internet Security since 2005, and I have never been disappointed. I recommend it to anyone who wants an easy to use security software.
That's why this combination works for now, until the beasties breed and newer versions get disseminated. Who knows what lurks behind the next web page you open.
My computer is at least twice as fast and maybe more. I have more options on what I want to do as far as security goes and it doesn't interfere with other things I want to do.
